Amy Bellisari was named University of Delaware softball assistant coach on Aug. 6, 2018.

Bellisari has spent the previous seven years as the head coach at Division II Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. She led the squad to 26 victories in 2017, the program’s most since 2004, before this year’s team won 25 games including 13 in the Sunshine State Conference, the most since 2003. The Fighting Knights finished .500 or better in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2003-04.

Bellisari, who guided Lynn to four 20-win seasons in the last six years, coached 11 All-SSC and two All-South Region selections. Additionally, the program earned 16 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholars during her tenure.

Prior to arriving at Lynn, Bellisari served as an assistant coach at Bethune-Cookman for four years. The Wildcats finished in second place in the MEAC in 2009, before winning the conference title in each of the next two seasons. Bellisari began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Ohio University in 2005-06.

Bellisari played at Florida Atlantic from 2001-04, leading her squads to a 208-80 record with four league titles and four NCAA Tournament appearances. The 2002 team set a school record and led the nation with 62 victories while earning a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Regionals. She graduated from FAU in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in social sciences.

“Amy brings a ton of experience and we are fortunate she chose Delaware,” Blue Hen head coach Jen Steele stated. “Not only is she a good skill builder, but she has a lot of experience with building programs. Our student-athletes will appreciate her attention to detail and easygoing personality.”
